Help your child understand more about fairness

Is "No fair!" your child's favorite phrase? Use it to talk about what fairness involves. For example, fair doesn't always mean the same. An older child may have earned more freedom. A younger one might be able to handle fewer responsibilities. Sometimes fairness involves compromise, so look for times when you can meet your child halfway. Ask, "What do you think would make it fair?" and use any of your child's ideas that are realistic.
