Calm explanations improve behavior better than scolding
It's important to make it clear when your child has misbehaved. Understanding what they did wrong is how children learn. But nothing is accomplished by getting upset and losing your temper. For more effective discipline, try this three-step process: 1. Calmly describe the behavior that is unacceptable. 2. Say how it makes you feel when your child does that. 3. Explain why the behavior isn't allowed.
