Congratulations to you on your graduation.  The following is some information that you will need concerning the entire graduation process.  Please read this information carefully.  If you have any questions, check with your homeroom teacher.




    $80 Payment is Due


     Payments are made to Graduate Services, INC. either online, by phone or by mail. Address:  P.O. Box 3256 Ridgeland, MS 39158

    Online: www.gradsouth.com   Phone: 601-898-7883   Seniors should refer to announcements on other dates that payments can be made in person.  Late Fee for Cap and Gown is $15.  Payments should not be made to Mrs. Kell.  All checks should be made payable to Graduate Services along with an order form.



    CLASS DUES:                                                                                              COST:  $30


                   Senior dues are used to help pay for the senior picnic, graduation programs, senior awards night, senior gift to the school, etc.  Seniors should pay Mrs. Ketnor/bookkeeper in the Office.  Please make checks payable to Vancleave High School.  This is the only payment that is made directly to VHS.


    EXPLOSION OF EXCELLENCE:               Tuesday, May 7th


    RECEIVING OF CAPS AND GOWNS:      Friday, May 3rd                 Between 11:45-3:40



                   The caps and gowns will be handed out on Friday, May 3, in Mrs. Bethany Kell’s room 211.  ***All fines, lost textbooks, and library books must be completed/paid/returned before you can pick up your cap and gown.  Mrs. Elizabeth Steelman will handle all fines, etc.  Those owing fines, etc., must have a clearance slip signed in order to pick up your cap and gown.

    Current Textbooks and Chromebooks must be turned in no later than Thursday, May2nd.



    BACCALAUREATE:                                      Sunday, May 5, at 4 p.m.                  VHS Cafetorium


    SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT:                         Monday, May 6th                6:00 p.m.

                   Seniors, parents, and other guests are invited (free of charge) to attend Senior Awards held in their honor at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.  Cake and punch will be served along with the presentation of the slideshow at 5:30 p.m.  Seniors will wear their cap and gown to award night.


    SENIOR PARADE:                                         Monday, May  6th @ 8:00 A.M.


    SENIOR SUNSET:                                         Monday, May 13th Ocean Springs Beach at 6:30 p.m.


    SENIOR PICNIC:                                           Monday, May  6th @10:30-1:00


    SENIOR BREAKFAST:                                 Friday, August 17  @7:00 a.m. 


    SENIOR EXAMS:                            Monday, May 6th (Seniors’ Last Day, if EXEMPT)

                                                                Tuesday, May 7 ALL EXAMS WILL BE TAKEN ON THIS DAY!


    Seniors who are exempt from their exams SHOULD NOT return to campus.  Students who must take exams may check in before their first exam and check out after completing their last exam once the block is completed.


    SENIOR BULLDOG MARCH:                     DATE TBA- Load buses at 9AM- (Tour the Halls of VLES, VUES, VMS and VHS)


    GRADUATION PRACTICE:          Thursday, May 17, at 9:00 a.m.

    All seniors report directly to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum.  If you have problems with transportation, let Mrs. Bethany Kell know.  Each senior should make plans to be at practice for at least an hour and a half or possibly longer.  YOU MUST BE ON TIME & PARTICIPATE IN THIS PRACTICE IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GRADUATION EXERCISES.  Uniforms not required; however, you must dress appropriately.  ***Note:  All fines, lost textbooks, library books, class dues, and cards must be completed/paid/returned.  See Mrs. Elizabeth Steelman in guidance.



    FINAL REPORT CARDS/TRANSCRIPTS:               Tuesday, May 14th


                   Seniors will receive their final report cards at graduation practice from guidance.




                   Boys are to wear khaki or dark dress pants (no jeans acceptable), dark socks, dark dress shoes (no athletic footwear), and a collared dress shirt and tie (no polo shirts).  Girls are to wear a dress, blouse/skirt and white/dark dress shoes or decorative sandals (no flip flops or athletic footwear).




                   The front and back of the cap are indicated.  The cap must be worn so that the plane of its square top is parallel to the floor.  It should be straight and not tilted.  The tassel is worn on the LEFT side toward the LEFT eye.




                   A representative from The Jim Owens Group will be at the Coliseum to take graduation pictures.  Graduates will receive picture package information at practice and will be able to pay for the package before the graduation exercise begins (Please make checks payable to The Jim Owens Group).  Individual pictures will be taken before graduation.  No individual pictures will be taken during the ceremony.  No one except graduates will be allowed on the Coliseum floor.  This means that friends and relatives must keep out of the area where graduates are seated and will be proceeding to the stage area to receive diplomas.  This will make the graduation exercises meaningful for everyone as confusion will be kept to a minimum and everyone will be able to see all of the proceedings.


    GRADUATION EXERCISES:       Tuesday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m.


                   All seniors should report to the Coliseum no later than 6:15 p.m.  All seniors will wear cap and gown and other proper dress.  If you are not properly dressed, you will not participate in the program.  If you have problems with transportation, let Mrs. Kell know so that arrangements can be made.  At 6:45 p.m., the senior sponsors will begin placing seniors in line for them to march.  If you are not in line and in your proper place when it is time for the program, you will not be allowed to march.  No one will be allowed to walk in late.


    Diploma Pick-up After Graduation:             Immediately following Graduation Exercises


                   Diplomas can be picked up behind the staging area.  Seniors may keep their gowns, caps, white year-date stoles, tassels, and honor cords. 



    Your behavior makes or mars your graduation ceremony.  All eyes are on you.  Do not talk during the Graduation Exercise and do not chew gum.  You will not be allowed to participate in the Graduation Exercise if you are not dressed appropriately.  Anyone under the influence of alcohol or other drugs will not be allowed to participate in the Graduation Exercise and will be subject to arrest.

    NOTE:  This form must be signed & returned BEFORE you will be able to receive your cap and gown.
