Destruction of Records
NOTICE TO FORMER SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OR PARENTS OF FORMER SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OF THE JACKSON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Notice is hereby given that on or after October 2, 2024, the Jackson County School District, Department of Special Education, will destroy all records relating to previous special education students whose records were accumulated prior to and/or between the dates of May 31, 2018 to May 31, 2019 and/or any prior special education student born in or before 1998 who are 25 years of age or older. Destruction of records is the best prevention against improper and unauthorized disclosure. Previous special education records could be needed by former students or the parents of former students for purposes, such as Social Security Benefits. If any former student or parent of a former student wishes to obtain a copy of previous records, please contact Brandy Stewart at the Department of Special Education, Jackson County School District, P.O. Box 5248, Vancleave, MS 39565, (228) 826-0152 no later than September 1, 2023, in order to make arrangements to retrieve records. Failure to contact the Jackson County School District, Special Education Department by September 1, 2024 will be deemed consent to destroy previous records.
