Pre-Employment Screenings
Overview
Appointments for pre-employment screenings will not be scheduled until the application process is completed through AppliTrack. This process includes completed surveys from three references (prior employers or supervisors). The applicant should also upload in AppliTrack any documents outlined in the job posting, i.e. current teaching license, transcripts or workkeys. Prior to the pre-employment screening, an email will be sent with paperwork and instructions outlining all required documents. Items required at the time of the appointment include:
- Employee paperwork packet
- Social Security Card
- Current Driver’s License
- Bank card or letter from a bank
- $40.00 money order for fingerprinting
Fingerprinting
All prospective employees and volunteers must be fingerprinted in accordance with Mississippi Code Annotate 37-9-17. The code applies to anyone aged 18 or older, and it includes full-time, part-time, paraprofessionals, volunteers and student workers. The cost of fingerprinting is $40.00, which must be paid at the time of the screening appointment by money order only made payable to JCSD. All fingerprints are taken, by appointment, at the District Office (4700 Colonel Vickrey Road, Vancleave).
Please follow the procedure below for prospective employees/volunteers:
- After applying in AppliTrack, have the applicant call the District Office at (228) 826-0170 to schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.
- Once the applicant has cleared, the school should complete a recommendation form and obtain all necessary signatures. Student workers under the age of 18 are excluded from this requirement.
Drug Testing
All prospective employees, volunteers, paraprofessionals, student workers and teachers/observers will submit to a drug screening. Paperwork will be given at the District Office at the time of the fingerprinting appointment. The initial cost of $25.00 will be paid by the prospective employee/volunteer at the time of testing. Student workers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must complete the drug testing.
